Senior Mechanical Technician – India Recruitment Event

About the role

This position supports the Expansion Project by performing mechanical activities for pre‑commissioning, commissioning, preservation and start‑up tasks across multiple facilities. The role also includes field maintenance to ensure reliability and availability of assets.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in pre‑commissioning, commissioning, preservation and start‑up of new equipment and facilities.
• Carry out preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment in the field and workshop.
• Ensure required materials and spare parts are available before work begins.
• Follow maintenance procedures and safety controls, providing accurate records and close‑out reports.
• Troubleshoot mechanical field issues and produce timely reports.
• Review P&IDs, loop drawings, hook‑up drawings, mechanical datasheets and other technical documents.
• Use calibrated and certified tools, complying with intrinsic safety requirements.
• Participate in regular toolbox meetings and report near‑misses, incidents and accidents.

Required profile

• Completion of secondary school education followed by a vocational training program (TAFE).
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a technician in the oil & gas or petrochemical industry.
• Good written and oral communication skills in English.
• Ability to work in a multinational environment and adapt to various cultures.
• Basic computer literacy with MS Office.

Required skills

• Operation, maintenance and condition monitoring of turbines, pumps, compressors, valves, heat exchangers and vessels.
• Preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance techniques.
• Use of calibrated and certified tools and intrinsic safety (IS) compliance.
