Senior Project Controls Engineer

About the role

The Senior Project Controls Engineer ensures awareness of and compliance with HSE rules and regulations while promoting a strong safety culture among subordinates and contractors. The role manages all project controls administration for the Engineering & Construction (E&C) Department, leads its monitoring and controlling function, and works closely with Functional Engineering, Operations, Production Optimisation, Contracts & Procurement, Finance and other E&C teams. The position is based in Doha, Qatar, with possible travel to onshore, offshore and international sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, review, control, start-up execution and closeout processes, and drive project controls process improvement.
• Manage business planning, budgets and rolling project forecasts, and control projects using KPIs and dashboards.
• Define deliverables supporting E&C KPIs and lead a team of Project Controls Analysts.
• Support project forecasting, monthly variance explanations, daily commitments, status updates, contractor monthly reports and E&C presentations to the COO and ManCom.
• Manage E&C project stock, work orders and job cards, and liaise with Contracts & Procurement and Logistics.
• Lead material controllers onshore and offshore, represent the department in the Material Management Committee and minimise unallocated stock.
• Customise project controls systems (Sciforma, BW, SAP, Primavera) and lead planning functions and tools.
• Identify process inefficiencies, approve change requests, prepare business cases and support digitalisation with Power BI solutions.

Required profile

• Engineering background.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the major Oil & Gas industry and related disciplines.
• Experience managing personnel and leading teams in a multicultural environment.
• Strong data management, processing and analysis of large data sets.
• Fluent written and spoken English with strong business writing.

Required skills

• SAP and other project controls tools.
• Basic exposure to engineering digital solutions such as 3D modelling and mobility solutions.
• Ability to work autonomously, meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
