About the role
The Ship HSE & Incident Officer will support LNG shipping operations for a leading international energy organisation. The role focuses on maritime risk management, incident response and HSSE governance across a global LNG fleet.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain LNG shipping incident response and emergency management procedures.
- Act as the focal point for ship incident reporting and stakeholder communications.
- Support and facilitate incident response activities during marine emergencies and operational disruptions.
- Coordinate mobilisation exercises, emergency drills and response simulations with ship operators and internal teams.
- Monitor global maritime security risks and provide timely operational updates.
- Support shipping risk assessments and mitigation activities in line with enterprise risk management processes.
- Assist with external HSSE audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner or Chief Engineer) OR a degree in Marine, Engineering, Business or a related field.
- Previous experience in LNG shipping, marine operations, HSSE, maritime security or incident management.
- Strong understanding of marine HSSE standards and operational risk management.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high‑pressure situations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Willingness to support out‑of‑hours operational incidents when required.
