Skipper

About the role

The Skipper will be the overall captain of the resort’s vessel, ensuring the safety, security and comfort of all passengers and crew. Based at Banana Island Resort Doha, the role combines hands‑on boat operation with leadership of a small crew in a luxury hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Navigate the vessel safely, follow approved passage plans and handle any deviations.
• Maintain the boat’s cleanliness, uniform standards and all safety equipment.
• Manage crew training, performance monitoring and daily briefings.
• Prepare the vessel for departure, including bunkering with fresh water and fuel, and ensure all logbooks and manifests are accurately completed.
• Respond to emergencies, send distress alerts and coordinate assistance with shore personnel.
• Oversee passenger luggage handling, mooring equipment condition and compliance with environmental and no‑smoking policies.
• Report any equipment issues, unsafe acts or crew absences to the Port Captain and relevant managers.
• Preserve all certificates, manuals and registration documents for the vessel.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a skipper or boat captain, preferably in a resort or hospitality setting.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and supervise a small crew.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety and environmental standards.
• Ability to communicate clearly with guests, crew and management.
