Spa Therapist

About the role

A full-time, non-management Spa Therapist position at the Autograph Collection Al Samriya hotel in Al Shahaniya, Doha, Qatar. The therapist provides massage and body treatments to guests, assesses their needs and keeps up to date with current techniques and modalities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide massage services using props and/or products, and body treatments using scrubs, wraps and/or hydrotherapy
• Assess guest needs and ask about contraindications such as allergies, high blood pressure and pregnancy before starting
• Keep up to date with current techniques and modalities in the field
• Escort guests to and from treatment rooms and arrange workstations, treatment rooms and drapes
• Check frequently with guests to promote comfort, safety and security
• Promote and sell spa and salon services, including retail offerings
• Clean, maintain and sterilize tools, keep the workspace tidy, dispose of trash and dirty linens, and secure supplies at the end of each shift
• Follow the time schedule and handle inappropriate guest behaviour according to Marriott's standard operating procedures, up to and including stopping a treatment and informing the supervisor or manager
• Maintain current skills and licensure as required by regional regulations, report accidents and injuries, and follow company policies and confidentiality rules

Required profile

• State or regional massage license or certification
• Preferred: a technical, trade or vocational school degree
• Preferred: at least 1 year of related work experience
• No supervisory experience required

Required skills

• Ability to stand, sit or walk for long periods and to lift objects up to 10 pounds
• Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
