Spa Therapist

About the role

A full-time Spa Therapist position at a Le Méridien property in Lusail, Qatar. The therapist provides massage and body treatments to guests, assesses their needs and contraindications, promotes spa services and keeps the workspace clean and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Provide massage services using props and/or products, and body treatments using scrubs, wraps and/or hydrotherapy.
• Assess guest needs and ask about contraindications such as allergies, high blood pressure and pregnancy before starting a service.
• Keep up to date with current techniques and modalities in the field.
• Escort guests to and from treatment rooms, arrange workstations, treatment rooms and drapes, and frequently check with guests to promote comfort, safety and security.
• Promote and sell spa and salon services, including retail offerings.
• Clean, maintain and sterilize tools, keep the workstation and treatment room tidy, dispose of trash and dirty linens, and secure supplies at the end of each shift.
• Monitor and stick to the time schedule, and handle inappropriate guest behaviour according to Marriott International's standard operating procedures, which may include stopping a treatment and informing the supervisor or manager.
• Maintain current skills and licensure as required by regional regulations, report accidents and injuries, complete safety training and certifications, and follow company policies and confidentiality rules.

Required profile

• State or regional massage license or certification.
• Preferred: a technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Preferred: at least 1 year of related work experience.
• No supervisory experience required.

Required skills

• Ability to stand, sit or walk for long periods and to lift and move objects up to 10 pounds.
• Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
• Professional appearance, clear communication and positive working relationships with colleagues and guests.
