Technical Officer (MEP)

About the role

The Technical Officer performs preventive and corrective maintenance, supports the team by directing the technicians and helping improve department performance, ensures proper handover of work between shifts and reports equipment faults to the engineers and STOs.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the team, train them on maintenance tasks and make sure they know the assets and installations
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and corrective tasks on time, and assist subcontractors
• Report defects, breakdowns and damages to the Fault Reporting Center or Engineer, STO
• Follow the duty roster, report spare parts needs and follow instructions from STOs, Engineers and Managers
• Help prepare documents for internal or external audits
• Comply with company standards on hygiene, dress code and behaviour, and with HSEQ standards, including health procedures and client rules
• Escalate requests for equipment or tools, report accidents, incidents and near misses, and ensure staff have the right PPE, permits and statutory training
• Develop and maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MS), Risk Assessments (RA) and COSHH, check that control measures are in place and report observations to the HSEQ Department

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent
• 5 years of relevant maintenance experience in a compatible facility
• Knowledge of regulations such as OSHA, MSDS, NFPA and BS
• Team building, problem-solving and dispute resolution skills, and ability to work with people at all levels
