Traffic Management Specialist

About the role

The Traffic Management Specialist coordinates the movement of Global Prepositioned Material Services (GPMS) cargo worldwide by air, land, and sea. The role ensures compliance with all applicable international, federal, and Department of Defense transportation regulations while maintaining in‑transit visibility within the Defense Transportation System.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, accept, and process outbound/inbound cargo documentation (DD Form 1149/1348‑1) for the Defense Transportation System.
• Verify nomenclature, quantity, Transportation Control Numbers (TCN), Transportation Account Codes (TAC), consignor/consignee codes, and hazardous/classified material certifications.
• Select appropriate commodity codes, determine the most efficient mode of shipment, and manage government transportation fund obligations.
• Prepare shipping documents, assign TCNs, produce labels, issue truck manifests, and maintain manifest logs.
• Enter transportation data accurately into CMOS, GATES, IBS, and related systems.
• Inspect hazardous materials for proper packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation in accordance with AFMAN 24‑604, 49 CFR, IATA, and IMDG regulations.

Required profile

• Ability to access and operate multiple logistics and tracking systems (LTS, GFM, CMOS, ILS‑S, GATES, ICODES, IBS, JCM, WPM Management Toolset, GART, IGC, RFID‑ITV, GDSS‑2, SMS).
• Knowledge of International Trade and Arms Regulations (ITAR), Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements, and ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• Completion of AMMO‑43, AMMO‑62, and WPM certification courses.
• Strong attention to detail for documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance.
