Turnaround Engineer – Contracts & Costing

About the role

The Turnaround Engineer – Contracts & Costing is responsible for managing the full contract lifecycle for goods and services required during plant turnarounds. The role ensures cost‑effective procurement, protects company interests, and supports the long‑term turnaround capital plan.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain an effective contract lifecycle for turnaround‑related goods and services.
• Coordinate with senior engineers and other trades to ensure smooth execution of turnaround contracts.
• Review, monitor, and control turnaround planning and execution details.
• Communicate with Finance, Commercial and Supply Chain to verify data quality in the turnaround management system.
• Evaluate contractor turnaround plans, procedures and performance.
• Support the development of the company’s long‑term Turnaround Future Capex Plan.
• Develop and maintain a cost database in line with industry best practices.
• Prepare statistical reports and trends for senior management.
• Review and improve contracting policies, procedures and systems.
• Analyse scope of work, select appropriate tendering methods and obtain necessary approvals.
• Identify bidders, initiate tenders and explore long‑term contracts for recurring services.
• Implement cost‑saving measures through consolidated procurement processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in contracts, costing and procurement for large‑scale turnaround projects.
• Strong coordination skills with engineering, finance and supply‑chain functions.
• Ability to develop and maintain cost databases and control procedures.
• Experience preparing reports and supporting senior management decision‑making.
• Knowledge of industry best practices for contract lifecycle management.
