Audit Specialist

About the role

The Audit Specialist leads, plans and executes complex internal audits within the oil & gas sector. The role ensures that internal controls, reporting accuracy, and compliance with policies are robust and effective, providing high‑visibility audit reports to senior management and shareholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate audit engagements, from risk assessment to fieldwork and reporting.
• Develop and update audit plans, ensuring coverage of key business activities.
• Prepare audit scopes, objectives and programs, and obtain necessary approvals.
• Conduct fieldwork, test controls, and evaluate compliance with policies and procedures.
• Draft internal audit reports, progress updates, and early findings for senior leadership.
• Follow up on prior audit observations to verify implementation of corrective actions.
• Supervise and mentor audit staff, providing on‑the‑job training on audit standards and reporting.
• Support shareholder and external audits coordinated through the Internal Audit Department.
• Perform special reviews as directed by senior audit leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in internal audit, compliance, risk management or inspection roles within the oil & gas industry.
• At least 3 years of experience in a middle‑management or supervisory capacity.
• Strong understanding of internal audit standards, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory requirements.
