Design Review Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Design Review Engineer to support a major roads, infrastructure and drainage programme in Qatar. The role involves multidisciplinary technical reviews of design submissions, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, standards and project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct consultant‑side technical reviews of design reports, drawings, specifications, calculations and models across roads, utilities, earthworks, drainage and related disciplines.
• Validate Issued for Construction packages, confirming coordinated documentation, naming conventions and numbering.
• Assess contractor shop drawings, design calculations, material selections and specialist studies before construction.
• Provide clear, timely review comments and maintain accurate comment registers and close‑out status.
• Identify design discrepancies, clashes, constructability concerns and interface risks, coordinating resolutions with contractors, designers and supervision teams.
• Liaise with original design consultants or external designers during construction to resolve technical queries.
• Review plans, elevations, sections, infrastructure connections, utility details, structures and related mechanical/electrical systems.
• Ensure design documents meet infrastructure, utility‑provider and governmental approval requirements.
• Assess proposed design changes, substitutions and site‑driven revisions, advising on compliance and technical implications.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering degree (civil, structural, geotechnical or related discipline).
• Proven experience in multidisciplinary design review for large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of contract requirements, design standards and construction documentation.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve design conflicts.
• Effective communication skills for coordination with contractors, designers and project leadership.
