Electrical Technician – Commissioning

About the role

The Electrical Technician will support the commissioning of electrical systems for industrial plants in Doha. You will work closely with Commissioning Engineers to ensure safe and successful start‑up of MV/LV equipment, transformers, switchgear, VFDs, UPS, generators and control panels.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities for MV/LV switchgears, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, UPS, DC systems, generators and control panels.
• Verify installations against approved drawings, conduct cable continuity, megger, grounding and protection‑relay testing, and record results.
• Diagnose and rectify electrical faults during start‑up and support ongoing maintenance.
• Prepare commissioning records, test reports and daily progress reports, and maintain accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Diploma or Technical Certification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in electrical installation, testing and commissioning, preferably in SWRO desalination, water‑treatment or power plants.
• Knowledge of HSE policies, LOTO procedures and safety‑culture practices.

Required skills

• Proficiency with testing equipment such as insulation‑resistance tester, CPC100, CIBANO Kit, Hypot Kit, CT analyzer and CMC Kit.
• Hands‑on experience with MV/LV systems including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, soft starters, UPS, DC systems, batteries, protection relays, motors and starters.
