ELV Design Engineer – Building & Infrastructure Projects

About the role

The ELV Design Engineer will lead the end‑to‑end design and engineering of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems for building and infrastructure projects. The role requires close collaboration with clients, architects and project teams to translate requirements into detailed designs, ensure compliance with standards and support installation and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients, architects and project managers to capture project requirements and objectives.
• Design ELV systems including structured cabling, data and voice networks, security, audio‑visual, public address, building automation and fire alarm systems.
• Produce detailed design drawings, schematics and specifications using AutoCAD (or BIM tools).
• Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies and risk assessments to validate proposed solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with international and local codes such as ANSI/TIA/EIA, BICSI and NFPA.
• Select appropriate equipment, materials and technologies in coordination with internal teams and vendors.
• Provide technical support to installation and commissioning teams and troubleshoot system performance issues.

Required profile

• 7–9 years of experience in ELV/low‑current system design, preferably within a system integrator or contracting environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication, Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Professional certifications such as BICSI RCDD, vendor certifications for CCTV, Access Control, Fire Alarm or Building Management Systems are a plus.

Required skills

• Design of Structured Cabling Systems, Data and Voice Networks.
• Security Systems design (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection).
• Audio‑Visual, Public Address and Building Automation Systems.
• Fire Alarm system design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and BIM‑related tools.
• Knowledge of standards: BICSI, ANSI/TIA/EIA, NFPA.
• Site surveying, feasibility studies, risk assessment and equipment selection.
• Technical support, commissioning assistance and troubleshooting.
