Engineer Technician – GIS & Drafting Support (Al Udeid Air Base)

About the role

This position provides engineering drafting, surveying, and GIS support for the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) at Al Udeid Air Base, Doha, Qatar. The Engineer Technician will create and maintain technical drawings, maps, and geospatial data to support facility projects and infrastructure management.

Key responsibilities

• Create and print custom maps using the Defense Area Printing Service (DAPS) and store them in Government IDMS or other media.
• Conduct in‑field land surveys to collect topographic, boundary, and utility data for infrastructure updates.
• Maintain and update GeoBase GIS data, ensuring compliance with DoDI 8130.01, DAFI 32‑10112, and related Air Force standards.
• Prepare and organize project documentation, including cost estimates, specifications, bills of materials, and schedules.
• Provide drafting assistance to engineers, craftsmen, and customers for design changes and facility planning.
• Compile and maintain a repository of technical reference material, plans, and specifications for easy access by engineering and maintenance personnel.

Required profile

• Experience in engineering drafting, surveying, and GIS data management.
• Familiarity with Air Force geospatial standards and documentation procedures.
• Ability to work onsite at a military installation and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
