English Teacher

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated English Teacher to join our academic department on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will inspire, motivate and challenge pupils across a range of abilities, creating a safe and stimulating learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess well‑structured English lessons that promote a love of learning.
• Set high expectations, establish clear goals and monitor pupil progress and attainment.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with special educational needs, high ability, EAL and disabilities.
• Develop and contribute to curriculum design, schemes of work and departmental resources.
• Provide constructive feedback, assign homework and organise out‑of‑class activities to reinforce learning.
• Reflect systematically on lesson effectiveness and adjust approaches accordingly.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to high standards of literacy, articulacy and correct use of standard English.
• Ability to create a respectful, inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Deep knowledge of the English curriculum and current developments in the subject.
• Understanding of how pupils learn and the factors that can hinder learning.
• Experience in differentiating instruction and using assessment to inform teaching.
