Fabrication Estimation Engineer

About the role

The Fabrication Estimation Engineer will develop accurate cost estimates for multimillion‑dollar oil and gas projects, supporting the bidding process and ensuring competitive pricing. Reporting to the Operations Engineering Manager, the role works closely with cross‑functional teams to translate tender requirements into detailed financial proposals.

Key responsibilities

• Review tender packages, specifications and schedules; raise clarifications as needed.
• Interpret contract price forms, unit rates and lump‑sum breakdowns.
• Collaborate with operations, production, shop engineers, yard superintendents, planning, welding, QA/QC, procurement and construction support to gather input.
• Identify required equipment, obtain costs from procurement, and prepare RFQs for external scope.
• Evaluate subcontractor quotes and select competitive offers.
• Perform quantity take‑offs, workforce, rental equipment and material cost calculations.
• Prepare detailed estimates using standard rates, historical data or first‑principles calculations.
• Document assumptions, maintain historical records and benchmark performance for future bids.
• Present estimates to management for review, approval and sign‑off.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in offshore construction involving jackets, topsides or bridges.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage change.
