Fabrication Estimation Engineer

About the role

The Fabrication Estimation Engineer will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for multimillion‑dollar oil and gas projects. Working closely with operations, procurement and engineering teams, the role ensures accurate bid pricing and documentation for offshore construction work.

Key responsibilities

• Review tender packages, specifications and schedules to understand scope of work.
• Clarify contract pricing structures, unit rates and lump‑sum breakdowns.
• Develop technical execution plans and coordinate inputs from production, yard, planning and procurement teams.
• Identify required equipment, prepare RFQs, evaluate subcontractor quotes and select competitive suppliers.
• Perform quantity take‑offs, calculate workforce, rental equipment and material costs.
• Prepare detailed estimates using standard rates, historical data or first‑principles calculations.
• Compile overall bid estimates, conduct management reviews and obtain full approval signatures.
• Document assumptions, communications and maintain historical records for future benchmarking.
• Analyze actual performance versus estimates and recommend benchmark revisions.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in offshore construction involving jackets, topsides, bridges or similar structures.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, components and processes.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Required skills

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint and PDF handling.
• Experience preparing and evaluating RFQs and subcontractor bids.
