Field Service Engineer

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer you will deliver technical support and engineering services for Emerson's DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Asset Management Solutions (AMS) in Qatar. You will be responsible for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance while ensuring reliable system performance and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, supporting service contracts, system upgrades and project execution.
• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and system enhancements on‑site.
• Lead commissioning, start‑ups, site surveys and produce technical documentation.
• Coordinate with global support teams and engineering experts to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians, and identify service improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Strong customer focus with clear communication skills in English.
• Ability to make sound decisions under technical pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
• Proactive problem‑solver with solid organizational abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Control Systems, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or related field.
• Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 25‑40%).

Required skills

• DeltaV system configuration, commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Industrial control systems, DCS/PLC programming and process automation.
• Communication protocols such as OPC, Modbus and industrial fieldbus technologies.
• Instrumentation systems, installation loop checking and control loop tuning.
• Industrial cybersecurity practices and IT/OT networking.
• Alarm management and operator training simulators.
