Financial Risk Director

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Financial Risk Director to lead the design, implementation, and oversight of our financial risk management framework. The role is pivotal in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating financial risks while supporting the organization’s sustainable growth and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the organization’s financial risk management strategy, policies, and frameworks.
• Identify, assess, monitor, and report on market, credit, liquidity, investment, and counterparty risks.
• Establish and maintain effective risk governance and internal control structures.
• Provide strategic advice to executive management and committees on risk exposure and mitigation.
• Lead risk assessments for investments, major projects, and strategic initiatives.
• Monitor economic, financial, and regulatory developments and evaluate their impact.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to embed risk awareness across the organization.
• Oversee preparation of risk reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior leadership.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing financial risk management team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management or related field.
• Master’s degree and/or professional certifications (FRM, CFA, PRM) highly preferred.
• 10–15 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of financial risk principles, governance frameworks, and internal controls.
• Proven experience in financial analysis, risk modelling, investment risk assessment and strategic risk management.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Fluency in Arabic and English preferred.
