IT Technician

About the role

We are looking for an experienced IT Technician to manage and support the shipboard IT infrastructure on offshore vessels. You will ensure reliable Wi‑Fi, LAN, and satellite communications while collaborating with onshore teams and crew members.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and troubleshoot managed Wi‑Fi networks and LAN infrastructure across multiple decks in a steel‑hull environment.
• Assist the onshore IT team with installation, configuration, and optimisation of computer hardware, network equipment, operating systems and maritime‑specific applications.
• Oversee VSAT, Starlink and TVRO media systems to guarantee high‑availability satellite connectivity for vessel operations and crew welfare.
• Monitor system performance proactively to maintain availability and reliability.
• Enforce IT security policies and technical restrictions in line with company standards.
• Provide orientation and guidance to crew on new software, hardware and acceptable‑use policies.
• Plan and schedule upgrades and maintenance without disrupting crew activities.
• Perform rapid root‑cause analysis and resolution of complex hardware, software and network outages.
• Manage the full lifecycle of IT assets, maintain inventories and ensure critical spares are stocked for offshore repairs.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of network topology diagrams and system configurations.
• Collaborate with offshore teams as required.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Cisco CCNA.
• Extensive experience as an IT Technician, preferably in the Oil & Gas offshore vessel sector.
• Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving abilities.
• Valid STCW/ILO Medical Certificate.
• Training and certification according to TOL Training Matrices.
