Lead Civil/Structural Engineer – Power & Desalination Plant

About the role

The Lead Civil/Structural Engineer will provide technical assurance for the civil and structural design of a power generation and desalination plant, covering both on‑shore and marine infrastructure. This senior position requires independent review, verification and approval of all engineering deliverables from project start through to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and review contractor civil and structural designs, ensuring compliance with project specifications and relevant codes.
• Verify suitability of designs for site development, dynamic equipment foundations, large prestressed potable water retaining structures, seawater tanks, drainage, earthworks, switching stations and electrical yards.
• Develop scopes of work for geotechnical and topographical investigations and interpret the resulting reports.
• Provide technical support during construction, resolving complex civil and structural issues on‑site.
• Coordinate across Concept/Feasibility, FEED and EPIC phases, ensuring seamless hand‑over between design and execution.
• Maintain alignment with US and European civil/structural standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of post‑graduate experience, with at least 10 years in power plant, oil & gas or other heavy‑industrial projects.
• Proven experience in plant site development, large‑scale drainage, utility‑scale power plant foundations, and marine civil works such as seawater intake and brine discharge systems.
• Design expertise in large prestressed concrete retaining structures, seawater tanks and settlement basins.
• Familiarity with US and European civil/structural codes and standards.
• Strong ability to manage time, cost and quality in multi‑project environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Chartered Engineer status or relevant postgraduate qualification.
• Excellent communication skills in English and experience working in multicultural teams.
