Pottery Designer & Ceramist

About the role

The Pottery Designer & Ceramist creates original ceramic pieces that blend aesthetic appeal with functional utility. Working in a studio environment, you will develop designs, experiment with materials, and bring finished works to exhibitions and sales.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute original pottery and ceramic designs using wheel throwing, hand‑building, and sculpting techniques.
• Operate and maintain pottery wheels, kilns, and other ceramic equipment; mix and apply glazes, stains, and decorative elements.
• Collaborate with the design team to prototype new product lines, refine designs, and ensure consistent quality.
• Inspect finished pieces for defects, troubleshoot production issues, and uphold quality standards.
• Conduct workshops and train junior staff or students in ceramic techniques.
• Maintain a clean, organized studio, manage material inventory, and follow safety protocols.
• Prepare works for exhibitions, art fairs, and gallery events; interact with customers and collectors.

Required profile

• Strong artistic vision and a solid understanding of contemporary ceramic practices.
• Hands‑on experience with various clays, glazes, and firing processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with artists, designers, and customers.
