Primary PE Teacher – Permanent Position

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Primary Physical Education Teacher to join our academic team on a permanent basis. The role involves delivering engaging PE lessons to primary pupils, fostering a love of sport and healthy living while supporting school‑wide competitions and events.

Key responsibilities

• Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
• Create a safe, respectful and stimulating learning environment.
• Plan and deliver well‑structured PE lessons for primary students, including occasional secondary teaching periods.
• Support school competitions such as QPPSSA, house events and sports teams.
• Monitor and be accountable for pupils’ attainment, progress and outcomes.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with special educational needs, high ability and English as an additional language.
• Reflect on lesson effectiveness and adapt teaching approaches accordingly.
• Contribute to curriculum design, scheme of work development and departmental resources.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of the PE curriculum and related subject areas.
• Understanding of how children learn and develop physically, socially and intellectually.
• Ability to set challenging yet achievable goals for pupils of all backgrounds and abilities.
• Commitment to promoting high standards of literacy, articulacy and correct use of standard English.
• Awareness of factors that can inhibit learning and strategies to overcome them.
• Experience guiding pupils to reflect on their progress and identify emerging needs.
