Principal Geologist (Exploration)

About the role

The Principal Geologist will work with multi‑disciplinary project teams to provide geological support for all exploration activities across QatarEnergy’s international non‑operated assets, from venture screening to drilling preparation and integrated geoscience studies.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to support exploration activities, including new venture opportunity screening, prospect and lead evaluation, drilling preparation, monitoring and integrated geoscience studies.
• Support NOJV asset management by contributing to annual business plans, scorecards, venture risk registers, and senior‑management updates on asset recommendations.
• Represent QatarEnergy in technical meetings, document minutes, and influence operator plans to align with QatarEnergy’s preferred position, focusing on synergies and cost savings.

Required profile

• 15+ years of geological exploration experience in international oil companies.
• Proven track record of prospect maturation, geological risk assessment and resource volume estimation.
• Experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams, projects and non‑operated ventures with multiple IOCs.
• Strong communication skills to preserve credibility and influence JV partners.
• M.Sc. in a core geoscience discipline (minimum).
