Principal Trader (Structured LNG)

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Trader specialized in Structured LNG to lead valuation and risk analysis for our physical trading desks. The role focuses on maximizing the value of gas, LNG, shipping, storage and regasification assets while supporting both origination and short‑term trading teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide reliable valuation and risk analysis for all LNG‑related assets.
• Design and value structured deals, supporting origination and short‑term trading activities.
• Develop and implement portfolio optimisation and structured trading capabilities.
• Collaborate with commercial teams to interpret contract terms, negotiate, and document transactions.
• Lead the design, valuation and risk management of financial and physical options.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in energy trading, with at least 5 years structuring LNG deals.
• Strong analytical background applying quantitative finance and option‑pricing theory to real transactions.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline; postgraduate qualification (MSc, MBA or PhD) preferred.
• Deep understanding of commercial contract terms, negotiation processes and origination support.
• Proven experience in financial/physical options design, valuation and risk management.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Programming expertise in Python, Julia or other scripting languages.
• Knowledge of optimisation modelling techniques.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
