Senior Mechanical Engineer (Buildings & Infrastructure)

About the role

GHD is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical systems for buildings, infrastructure and industrial projects across the UAE. The role combines technical leadership, project management and client interaction to ensure high‑quality, compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept through construction and commissioning, ensuring compliance with ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA, CIBSE and local authority regulations.
• Perform technical reviews, calculations, simulations and value‑engineering to optimise system performance.
• Utilise Revit, BIM workflows and energy‑modelling tools (IES, HAP) for detailed design and coordination.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with architects, structural, electrical and specialist teams.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and performance assessments to verify design intent.
• Support project managers in risk tracking, progress reporting and schedule management.
• Engage directly with clients to present solutions, resolve issues and build long‑term relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8–12 years of experience in building services engineering within the UAE.
• Proven track record delivering complex projects with minimal supervision.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery frameworks.

Required skills

• HVAC design and energy‑efficient systems.
• Mechanical plant design, equipment selection and piping system integration.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), IES, HAP and mechanical calculation software.
• Knowledge of UAE authority regulations and international codes (ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA).
• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and smart‑building integration.
