Senior Quantity Surveyor – Design & Build Projects

About the role

The Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial and contractual administration of large-scale design-and-build projects, handling payment assessments, cost control and variation valuation. The role requires extensive post-contract experience and a strong understanding of the commercial implications of design changes.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess contractor interim payment applications, verifying quantities, progress and contractual entitlement.
• Validate monthly work-in-progress valuations and recommend certification amounts.
• Evaluate BOQ items, variations, omissions and design changes, and assess related commercial proposals.
• Support the assessment of contractor claims, prolongation, disruption and acceleration costs.
• Prepare independent cost estimates, cash-flow forecasts and cost-to-complete reports.
• Maintain registers for payments, variations, claims and commercial correspondence, and assist in final account preparation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of quantity surveying experience, with proven post-contract design-and-build project exposure.
• Strong background in interim payment assessment, BOQ administration and variation valuation.
• Experience working with consultants, engineers, PMC or employer’s representatives on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
• Familiarity with PWA, FIDIC or similar design-and-build contractual arrangements; GCC or Qatar experience is an advantage.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel for analytical reporting.
• Building Information Modelling (BIM) and associated cost-management tools.
• Knowledge of PWA and FIDIC design-and-build contract frameworks.
• Proficiency in preparing commercial reports, cash-flow forecasts and cost-to-complete analyses.
