Assistant Vice President, Investigations

About the role

The Assistant Vice President Investigations manages and supervises the remittance investigations function for QNB's retail and corporate clients, ensuring timely and accurate processing of outward and inward remittance enquiries. The role also covers developing supporting processes, liaising with internal departments and aligning the department's plans and strategies with the Group's strategy. The position is based in Doha, Qatar.

Key responsibilities

• Shareholder & financial: assist the VP Transaction Services in creating KPIs for the Investigations sub-section, implement KPIs and best practices, act within delegated powers, understand the bank's financial and non-financial performance, and assist with the annual budgeting process.
• Customer (internal and external): provide efficient service to internal departments so they can serve external customers better, develop Service Level Agreements with internal units to improve turnaround times for remittance queries and complaints, build strong relationships with related departments, and provide timely data to auditors, compliance, financial control and risk.
• Processes, products and regulatory: ensure robust automated and manual controls to prevent or detect negligence or fraud, and that policies and procedures comply with QCB and international regulations; approve transactions within delegated authority and ensure segregation of duties; coordinate regulator reports and requests within timelines; compile periodic MIS for management; and continuously improve processes to lower operating costs.
• Support international branches and subsidiaries, lead improvement initiatives through cross-functional teams, and encourage and reward innovative ideas.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Marketing, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or Information Technology.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in a highly rated international bank or banking operations.
• At least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory position responsible for the functions described.
