Control Engineer I

About the role

The Control Engineer I provides front‑line technical and engineering support for Control & Safety systems on the Al Shaheen offshore field. Based in Doha, the role involves on‑site duties, regular offshore trips and close collaboration with offshore supervisors, maintenance coordinators and external contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support and solutions for ICSS Control & Safety system maintenance, engineering and discipline activities.
• Coordinate with Tier 2 Maintenance, Operations Centre, offshore teams and vendors to manage spare parts, troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and shutdown campaigns.
• Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, company standards and promote an incident‑free environment.
• Manage the repair process for critical equipment, including visits to vendor workshops and factory acceptance tests.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in oil & gas automation engineering, with strong knowledge of offshore plant equipment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Control & Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
• Medically fit to travel offshore and fluent in written and spoken English.
• Proven ability to work in a multicultural, highly technical environment and to interact effectively with peers and line management.

Required skills

• Yokogawa Prosafe RS ESD, CENTUM VP DCS, Plant Resource Manager, PIMS, Alarm Management System.
• ICSS infrastructure: Domain Controller, Microsoft Hyper‑V, VMware ESXi, Fortinet Firewall, Hirschmann L2/L3 switches.
• Industrial protocols: Modbus (Serial/TCP), OPC DA, OPC UA, Profibus, Profinet.
• Allen‑Bradley RSLogix 500/5000 and Siemens PCS7 (Simatic Step 7, WinCC, F‑systems, Redundant H‑System, S7‑400).
• Experience with CMMS, planning processes and cross‑discipline maintenance requirements.
