Director of Finance

About the role

The Director of Finance will provide financial leadership for the Mondrian Doha hotel, guiding management with strategic insight and ensuring the profitability and financial health of the property.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and communicate cash‑flow issues, including preparation of cash‑flow statements, oversight of receivables, payables and cash balances.
• Ensure compliance with all local fiscal regulations, obtain necessary permits and licenses for financial transactions.
• Safeguard leases, contracts and legal documents that affect the hotel’s financial status.
• Approve daily and monthly operational reports, trend analyses, source‑of‑business reports and auditor check‑lists.
• Monitor hotel revenues and expenses, ensuring accurate recording in line with international guidelines.
• Investigate budget variances and propose practical improvement methodologies.
• Support capital‑planning processes, calculate return on capital improvements and oversee bid processes.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts and operational taxes.
• Analyse financial data to advise management on achieving financial objectives.
• Ensure timely reconciliation of all balance‑sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations.
• Assist in recruiting and maintaining a finance team of Controllers, Assistant Controllers and Accounting Managers.

Required profile

• Proven senior finance leadership experience, preferably within hospitality or a comparable sector.
• Strong knowledge of international financial reporting standards and local Qatar fiscal regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cash flow, budgeting and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on variance analysis and capital planning.
• Leadership capability to develop and mentor finance professionals.
