Head of Secondary (IB Middle Years Programme)

About the role

Nord Anglia Education is seeking a dynamic Head of Secondary to lead Etqan Global Academy’s secondary school in Doha. The role combines strategic vision with hands‑on leadership to drive academic excellence within the IB Middle Years Programme.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership aligned with the IB MYP philosophy and the school’s strategic plan.
• Champion concept‑driven, inquiry‑based teaching and learning across all secondary year groups.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing teaching team through coaching, appraisal and CPD.
• Drive whole‑school improvement using effective monitoring, data analysis and self‑review processes.
• Build strong relationships with students, parents and the wider community.
• Collaborate with the Principal, MYP Coordinator and senior leadership team to deliver the School Improvement Plan.
• Oversee timetabling, curriculum planning and academic reporting for the secondary phase.
• Ensure excellent student welfare, pastoral care and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent) and a relevant degree.
• Significant senior leadership experience in an IB school, with a proven track record of school improvement.
• Strong knowledge of the IB Middle Years Programme.
• Excellent data literacy and ability to use assessment information to drive improvement.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
• International school experience, preferably in the Middle East (desirable).
