Learning Support Specialist

About the role

The Learning Support Specialist provides instruction, remediation, and evaluation for both didactic and clinical nursing education, including patient‑care simulations. The role requires up‑to‑date knowledge of nursing concepts and competencies to deliver academic support and ensure students understand university policies and requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver instruction, remediation, and assessment in classroom and clinical settings, including simulation labs.
• Communicate university academic policies and regulations clearly to students.
• Document and report student academic progress to academic leadership.
• Coordinate and supervise students during laboratory experiences, offering individualized guidance.
• Plan and schedule open lab utilization times, ensuring resources and communication are effective.
• Support the development and implementation of learning support plans aligned with university strategies.
• Manage Learning Support social media accounts and run publicity campaigns.
• Collaborate with Information Technology Services and other academic departments.
• Supervise peer tutors and graduate assistants as needed.

Required profile

• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing concepts, competencies, and current practices.
• Familiarity with university programs and ability to explain academic policies to students.
• Strong accountability and service‑excellence mindset when interacting with students, colleagues, and external agencies.
• Effective communication and documentation skills for reporting student progress.
• Ability to coordinate lab activities and manage resources efficiently.
