Linen Sorter – Hotel Laundry Department

About the role

The Linen Sorter works in the hotel’s laundry department, handling the receipt, sorting and preparation of guests' garments and hotel linen for washing. The role ensures items are correctly categorized by colour, fabric and washing requirements while maintaining high standards of quality, productivity and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Collect soiled laundry from guests, staff and internal collection points.
• Sort garments, uniforms and linen by colour, fabric type and specific washing instructions.
• Inspect items for stains, damage or missing components and report issues to the supervisor.
• Separate heavily stained or damaged items for special treatment.
• Count, tag and accurately track customer items.
• Load sorted items into the appropriate carts or bins for washing.
• Maintain a clean and organised sorting area.
• Assist with loading and unloading laundry carts as needed.
• Follow all health, safety and hygiene procedures.
• Meet daily productivity and quality targets.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a laundry or housekeeping environment is preferred.
• Ability to read and write basic English.
• Reliability, punctuality and adherence to grooming standards.
• Good interpersonal skills to work with colleagues across departments.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills for tracking and reporting.
