Machinist – Precision Specimen Preparation

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our expanding operations team. The role focuses on preparing specimens for testing and performing a variety of machining tasks in accordance with customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Operate cutting equipment to prepare specimens as dictated by customer specifications.
• Design, set‑up, and execute machining assignments while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Mentor and train less‑experienced machinists, communicating process details and technical data.
• Maintain equipment and schedule preventative maintenance.
• Gather and record dimensions to meet quality‑assurance requirements.

Required profile

• Working knowledge of laboratory and machine‑shop safety protocols.
• High school diploma or GED; associate degree in a related testing, science, or mechanical field preferred.
• 3–6 years of experience in a machining shop environment.
• Strong understanding of specimen preparation, measuring instruments, and dimensional concepts.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lb regularly, with occasional heavier lifts.
