Machinist – Precision Specimen Preparation

About the role

Element is seeking a skilled Machinist to join its rapidly expanding operations team. The role focuses on preparing specimens for testing and performing a variety of machining tasks in accordance with customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Operate cutting equipment to prepare specimens as dictated by customer specifications.
• Design, set‑up and execute machining assignments with minimal supervision.
• Mentor and train less‑experienced machinists, communicating process details and technical data.
• Maintain machining equipment and schedule preventative maintenance.
• Gather and record dimensions to meet quality‑assurance requirements.

Required profile

• HS diploma or GED; Associate degree in a related testing, science or mechanical field preferred.
• 3–6 years of experience in a machining shop environment.
• Strong understanding of specimen preparation and machining concepts.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift 50 lb + periodically.
• Compliance with laboratory safety and machine‑shop safety protocols.
