About the role

The Marine Personnel Training & Career Development Specialist (Deck) is responsible for overseeing the professional growth, certification compliance, and career progression of seafarers. This role ensures that training programs, mentorship frameworks, and promotion processes align with STCW standards and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for all seafarer ranks and maintain a comprehensive training matrix.
• Develop individual training plans, coordinate with internal departments and external providers, and monitor certification validity.
• Design and implement a structured cadet mentorship program and track cadet progress.
• Create transparent career progression paths, manage promotion eligibility, waiting lists, and coordinate promotions.
• Provide post‑deployment career counseling and debriefings.
• Oversee the seafarer appraisal process, consolidate scores, and support reward and recognition initiatives.
• Assess, approve, and periodically evaluate external training centers for STCW and company compliance.
• Conduct vessel visits to evaluate onboard training effectiveness and lead Fleet Officer Meetings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in maritime training, crew development, or related HR functions.
• In‑depth knowledge of STCW regulations and maritime certification requirements.
• Strong organizational and coordination abilities to manage multiple training programs and stakeholder relationships.
• Experience designing mentorship frameworks and career progression pathways for seafarers.
• Ability to analyze performance data and translate findings into actionable development plans.
