Maternity Cover Primary Teacher

About the role

This position provides maternity cover for a primary classroom, delivering high‑quality, engaging lessons and fostering a safe, inclusive learning environment. The teacher will work closely with the Assistant Head of Primary and the wider academic team to maintain continuity of learning during the leave period.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver well‑structured lessons that meet the needs of all learners, using inquiry‑based and creative teaching strategies.
• Maintain high expectations for learning, behaviour and personal responsibility, implementing restorative behaviour management.
• Integrate technology to enhance learning and develop students’ digital skills.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design coherent grade‑level programmes and contribute to curriculum development.
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress, provide feedback and differentiate instruction.
• Support diverse learners, including EAL, SEN and high‑achieving students, in partnership with the Inclusion Department.
• Promote student agency, wellbeing and resilience through goal‑setting, reflection and a supportive classroom culture.
• Engage in professional development, team meetings and school‑wide initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified primary teacher with experience delivering engaging lessons.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including EAL and SEN.
• Strong classroom management skills aligned with restorative practice principles.
• Collaborative mindset, willing to work with colleagues, inclusion staff and pastoral leaders.
• Commitment to professional growth and adherence to school values and international mindedness.
