Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment (Petrochemical)

About the role

Orion Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specialized in rotating equipment to join its petrochemical projects in Qatar. The role is permanent and focuses on ensuring the reliability and performance of critical rotating machinery throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and improve the performance of existing rotating equipment to maintain continuous reliability.
• Develop engineering solutions, design, plan, and coordinate rotating mechanical design, procurement, installation, and commissioning activities.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all mechanical engineering matters with contractors and consultants.
• Ensure project execution aligns with schedule, budget, HSE, and quality standards.
• Oversee detailed design, define procurement and installation parameters, and manage material specifications.
• Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), identify failure reasons, and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in rotating equipment within the petrochemical or related industry.
• Proven experience in project and contractor management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team of engineers and coordinate with external consultants.

Required skills

• Selection and design validation of pumps, compressors, steam turbines, and package equipment.
• Knowledge of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) project compliance.
• Mechanical engineering fundamentals and industrial automation.
• Troubleshooting, analytical techniques, and root cause failure analysis.
