Senior Category Specialist

About the role

The Senior Category Specialist will drive the category procurement strategy, leading strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier relationship management, and contract administration. This role collaborates closely with end‑users and suppliers to uncover cost‑saving opportunities and manage high‑value purchases outside existing frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategy, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
• Conduct strategic sourcing, negotiate framework agreements, and manage high‑value purchase orders not covered by existing contracts.
• Lead risk management assessments for the entire category and implement mitigation plans.
• Handle complex claims, disputes, and discrepancies in contract terms, coordinating with suppliers.
• Support KPI monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement actions.
• Act as Risk Champion for the category, supporting internal and external audit activities.
• Train and mentor category specialists, building technical and commercial expertise.
• Collaborate with finance, end‑users, and strategic procurement to develop demand forecasts and market insights.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in category procurement or strategic sourcing.
• Proven ability to lead supplier negotiations and manage complex contracts.
• Strong analytical skills to assess market dynamics and internal demand.
• Experience in risk management and dispute resolution within procurement.
• Capability to train and develop junior procurement professionals.
