Senior Director, Academic Services

About the role

The Senior Director, Academic Services leads the Education Office’s student‑centric functions at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean, Education, this newly created position oversees academic advising, course scheduling, registration, and student financial services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage a strategic vision for student services, monitoring student progress toward degree completion and addressing systemic issues.
• Ensure students receive accurate information on course and degree options and remain compliant with academic policies.
• Partner with the Director of Student Academic Success to design and implement academic action plans for students on probation or warning.
• Oversee accurate financial‑aid counseling and coordination with the Manager of Student Financial Services.
• Collaborate with academic programs and advisors to determine course needs, create the semester schedule, assign rooms, and set final‑exam timetables.
• Maintain data integrity across enrollment‑management platforms, including course descriptions, faculty assignments, and degree audits.
• Supervise the degree certification process and a team of four academic advisors, the Director of Student Academic Success, and the Manager of Student Financial Services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, including direct supervisory responsibility.
• Strong background in academic advising and/or enrollment services.
• Familiarity with financial‑aid counseling and student‑financial‑services operations.
• Experience with enrollment‑management and student‑records technology platforms.
• Knowledge of Carnegie Mellon University and/or Education City, Qatar is a plus.
