Senior Internal Auditor – EPC & Capital Projects

About the role

UCC is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to lead risk‑based audits across its EPC and capital‑project portfolio. The role blends engineering insight with project‑control expertise to provide independent assurance on cost, schedule, and contractual performance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute internal audit engagements for EPC and joint‑venture projects in line with the IIA IPPF.
• Review and test project‑control processes, including cost engineering, scheduling, earned‑value analysis, and change‑order management.
• Validate the accuracy of cost reports, forecasts, and cost‑to‑complete estimates against underlying data.
• Assess schedule management practices, critical‑path logic, delay analysis, and extension‑of‑time claims.
• Examine variation orders and contractual entitlement positions for completeness and supporting documentation.
• Develop and apply Risk Control Matrices, distinguishing design and operating effectiveness for project‑control processes.
• Gather evidence, prepare workpapers, and draft clear audit findings for non‑technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project directors, controls managers, and commercial teams to agree on corrective actions and track remediation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering discipline.
• 6‑8 years of hands‑on experience in project controls (cost engineering, planning/scheduling, contracts) on EPC or infrastructure projects.
• Professional certification such as CIA, CCP, PMP or equivalent is preferred or in progress.
• Strong understanding of EPC contract structures, claims, variation orders and joint‑venture arrangements.
• Excellent analytical, report‑writing and communication skills.
