SQL Developer – Database Development & Administration

About the role

Avanceon is seeking an experienced SQL Developer to design, implement, and optimise robust data solutions for its operations in Qatar. This contractual position focuses on high‑performance backend programming and data architecture to support mission‑critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and optimise SQL queries, stored procedures and functions.
• Design, maintain and document database schemas ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable database solutions.
• Perform database tuning, performance optimisation and troubleshooting.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and best‑practice database configurations.
• Support data migration, integration and ETL processes.
• Provide technical support and resolve database‑related incidents.
• Document design decisions, configurations and code changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• 8–10 years of proven experience as an SQL Developer or similar role.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience working in the Middle East or South Asia is a plus.

Required skills

• Microsoft SQL Server (T‑SQL) and stored procedures.
• Proficiency with relational databases such as MSSQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Database design, data modelling, normalization.
• Performance tuning and query optimisation.
• ETL processes and related tools.
• Database security practices.
• Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
• Relevant certifications in SQL, Azure or database management.
