Plant Inspector - Fertilizer Plant

About the role

QAFCO's fertilizer plant in Doha is looking for a Plant Inspector to carry out routine and non-routine inspections of static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, piping systems and structural components. The inspector also supervises non-destructive testing and works closely with maintenance, engineering and operations during shutdowns and turnarounds.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and supervise NDT activities (UT, RT, MT, PT, VT) in line with ASNT, API and ASME standards
• Carry out weld inspection and structural integrity assessments per CSWIP 3.1 / AWS / ISO, and review and approve weld procedures and welder qualifications
• Assess corrosion, erosion and degradation, recommend fitness-for-service (FFS) evaluations and risk-based inspection (RBI) strategies
• Maintain inspection records, equipment history files and reports in the CMMS (SAP PM) and ensure documentation meets QAFCO and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate with maintenance, engineering and operations during shutdowns and turnarounds so inspections are completed on schedule
• Comply with QAFCO PTW system, HSE policies and industry codes (API 510, API 570, API 653)

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical, Metallurgical or a related engineering discipline
• ASNT Level II certification in at least two NDT methods (UT, RT, MT or PT) - mandatory
• CSWIP 3.1 (Welding Inspector) or API 510 / API 570 / API 653 certification - mandatory
• 4-6 years of hands-on plant inspection experience in oil & gas or petrochemicals; ammonia/urea or fertilizer experience highly preferred
• Proven experience in shutdown/turnaround inspections, RBI methodology and fitness-for-service assessments
• Immediate availability strongly preferred

Required skills

• Familiarity with ASME VIII, API 510/570/653, AWS D1.1 and ISO 9712
• Experience with SAP PM or an equivalent CMMS
