Mechanical Senior Supervisor - Typhoon Aircraft

About the role

The Mechanical Senior Supervisor is an experienced and skilled mechanical technician who supervises detailed maintenance activities on the Typhoon aircraft or its components. The post holder must understand the approved technical data set well enough to supervise personnel carrying out maintenance in line with the organisation's regulatory framework.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and diagnose faults in aircraft systems, equipment and assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures and guide less experienced team members
• Carry out detailed maintenance, inspection and supervision on the Typhoon, ensuring work follows the approved technical information and work packages
• Resolve faults and maintenance issues, including configuration management, and raise ad hoc work cards for found faults
• Complete tasked maintenance such as ground handling, flight servicing, role changes, removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectification, replacements and tests
• Maintain personal task authorizations, keep maintenance scheduled and escalate issues; report impacts to the wider program
• Supervise the team, ensure staff are competent and approved for their tasks, and provide leadership and development through formal assessments (PDRs) and training sponsorship
• Support compliance with MOE and Functionally Mandated Procedures, including oversight checks and control of tooling and test equipment
• Keep a personal log book showing currency and recency, and sign others' log books where appropriate; assessors also approve authorisations and check Pt 145 licence packs

Required profile

• Engineering apprenticeship, ideally aeronautical engineering or military equivalent
• Minimum City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or equivalent
• Aircraft platform training (on aircraft)
• At least 2 years at technician level before a supervisor role
• Broad product knowledge, awareness of team integration and continuous improvement
• Knowledge of aviation safety standards, safe operating practices and risk assessments, SHE policies

Required skills

• Expositions and Functionally Mandated Procedures management training
• PDR training or experience
