Teacher Assistant

About the role

The Teacher Assistant supports the academic, social, and emotional development of students by working closely with classroom teachers to deliver the DSGD‑approved curriculum. This role helps create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment while contributing to the wider school community.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering lesson content and preparing instructional materials, displays, and equipment.
• Provide individual or small‑group tutoring to reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, gymnasiums, and on field trips.
• Cover short‑term teacher absences under the guidance of the Head of Year.
• Distribute and collect teaching materials, tests, and homework.
• Organise and supervise recreational activities to promote physical, mental, and social development.
• Participate in parent‑teacher conferences and staff meetings.
• Take attendance, maintain records, and assist with bus loading/unloading.
• Support students with special needs and contribute to extracurricular clubs and projects.
• Adhere to all school policies, handbook rules, and health & safety regulations.
