Assistant Financial Controller

About the role

The Ned Doha, a luxury hotel in Doha's former Ministry of Interior building, is hiring an Assistant Financial Controller. The role oversees daily accounting operations, supports the Director of Finance and supervises the finance team, covering closing, reporting, budgeting, cash flow, payroll, tax and statutory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, review and approve journal entries, income audit checklists and revenue reports, and maintain internal controls.
• Coordinate monthly and year-end closing, reconcile balance sheet accounts, prepare weekly P&L and bank balance reports and monthly financial statements.
• Assist the Director of Finance with annual budgets, monthly forecasts and financial analysis, and support Heads of Departments in understanding performance.
• Review cash collections, bank deposits and General Cashier activities, oversee bank reconciliations, prepare cash flow projections and coordinate supplier payment planning.
• Review Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable ageing, and coordinate monthly payroll processing with the Paymaster.
• Coordinate annual external audits, liaise with external auditors, prepare annual income tax returns, handle monthly withholding tax declarations and ensure overseas contracts are declared to the General Tax Authority.
• Supervise and support finance team members, manage task allocation and scheduling, and act on behalf of the Director of Finance during their absence.
