Assistant Resident Civil Engineer

About the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer to supervise and deliver major water infrastructure projects, including large sewage treatment works (STWs), pump stations and water‑retaining structures in Qatar.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise construction activities for large STWs, pump stations and water‑retaining structures, ensuring compliance with PPPA requirements.
• Evaluate technical proposals for constructability and technology deployment, and support resolution of technical issues.
• Monitor progress against Work, Cost and Resources Breakdown Structures and inspect workmanship and materials.
• Ensure health, safety and welfare standards are met and advise the Engineer on non‑compliance or slow progress.
• Carry out periodic site inspections, identify defects or deviations, and prepare conformance reports.
• Manage multiple work areas, maintain clear communication with stakeholders, and promote continuous improvement and digital ways of working.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 12 years post‑graduate experience supervising comparable water infrastructure works.
• At least 7 years experience on large pump stations and STWs involving heavy water‑retaining structures.
• Strong construction monitoring and inspection experience, including assessment of materials, workmanship and compliance.
• Fluency in written and spoken English with proven experience working in the Gulf region.
