Aviation Safety Specialist

About the role

Hamad International Airport is looking for a highly skilled and organized Aviation Safety Specialist. The role supports the line manager in maintaining and reviewing operational programs for aviation safety and investigation, in line with SMS requirements and safety standards, and works closely with aerodrome departments and airport stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the line manager in maintaining and reviewing operational programs for aviation safety and investigation, aligned with SMS requirements and safety standards.
• Liaise with Aerodrome Departments and airport stakeholders to coordinate safety efforts across teams.
• Review and verify that safety procedures comply with QCAR regulations.
• Contribute to developing and managing the Hazard Log and Risk Register, and define the Threat/Hazard Identification and Risk Management processes in line with the MATAR Safety Management System manual.
• Prepare risk assessments and safety cases, and support aeronautical studies on non-compliance situations.
• Support aerodrome oversight inspections by the QCAA Aerodrome Standards Directorate and assist with aerodrome certificate processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 4 years of job-related experience.
• Completion of SMS training from ICAO or ACI, ICAO Annex 14 training, and Apron Management training from ICAO or ACI.
• Strong command of English, written and spoken.
• Attention to detail and analytical skills, including the ability to analyze audit reports and identify issues.
• Knowledge of aerodrome certification and renewal procedures, and competence in airfield auditing.
• Ability to work in a team, manage workflows and priorities, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Required skills

• Technical writing: preparing documents, manuals and standard operating procedures.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Presentation skills for training sessions and briefings.
• Preferred: CDMS (AeroDocs) and other software used for safety documentation and reporting.
