Building Design Project Leader

About the role

The Building Design Project Leader is fully responsible for the design development and integration of building activities within a project, reporting to PEM or, if present, to the Plant Design Manager, and coordinating engineers, specialists and draftsmen. The role leads detail design and services linked to procurement, construction and commissioning of building disciplines, as requested by the Head of Department. The position starts on 1 November 2024 in Ras Laffan, Qatar, on a rotation of 60 days on site, 10 days off (paid) and 2 days travelling (paid).

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the quality of building technical documentation according to contractual requirements, budget and schedule.
• Help define the project execution strategy, including the schedule, with the Project Team and the Head of Department, and coordinate with other project leaders and engineering centres such as TCMPL.
• Supervise multi-disciplinary building engineering activities and critical engineering cycles within the contract budget and project timeline.
• Report to PEM or the Plant Design Manager on status, planning and key issues.
• Work with client representatives and vendors on technical topics affecting time and cost, and assist inspection and construction departments when needed.
• Help prepare and maintain project procedures, guidelines and standards in line with company standards and contractual requirements.
• Stay up to date with the discipline and share knowledge with colleagues.

Required profile

• University degree or diploma in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
• Significant experience in the industrial construction of large or XL gas plants.
• At least 12-18 years of relevant experience, having covered a similar role in at least 2-3 projects of comparable size.
