Commis I - Hotel Kitchen Assistant

About the role

Ibis Doha and Adagio Doha, a multi-branded hotel complex of 306 rooms and serviced apartments, is looking for a Commis I. The hotel is 15 minutes from Hamad International Airport, near Msheireb Downtown and Souq Waqif, and offers international cuisine at Charlie's Corner, an Infiniti pool and a hi-tech gymnasium.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items according to standard recipes, portion sizes and presentation guidelines.
• Assist the Chef de Partie and Demi Chef de Partie with daily kitchen operations.
• Prepare ingredients and mise en place according to daily preparation lists.
• Ensure food quality, freshness, consistency and timely preparation.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly, and keep workstations, utensils and equipment clean and organised.
• Follow HACCP, food safety, hygiene and proper food storage procedures.
• Label, store and rotate stock using FIFO principles, minimise food waste and use ingredients responsibly.
• Work with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction, and follow hotel policies, grooming standards and safety procedures.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervising Chef.

Required profile

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a hotel or restaurant.
• Culinary diploma, certificate or professional kitchen training preferred.
• Good communication skills, a positive team attitude and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Good personal hygiene, grooming and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients and kitchen equipment.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, HACCP and food handling.
• Ability to follow standard recipes and maintain food quality and presentation.
